Voodoo 2 - 1998

Having created the market with the first chip, the Voodoo 2 garnered a lot more attention from the press and online forums. In return, it blessed gamers with enhanced performance and functionality. It was scalable and could work with another V2 card in tandem - increasing framerates even more. The Voodoo 2 hammered 3D into a fixed position : that of technological excellence and complexity destined to surpass the CPU and provide the ultimate visual experience. It was a success from a sales point of view and from a technical point of view. In its time, the V2 was king of the hill, nothing was better and it could take anything and keep churning out playable framerates.
